At CSYTA, we’re not just focused on what’s happening now — we’re also keeping an eye on what’s next.
As transit projects move forward, we want youth voices to be part of those early decisions — before routes are finalized, stations are built, or priorities are locked in. These are areas we’re watching closely. We may not be working on them directly yet, but we believe they’ll shape the future of transit for our generation and the next.
The expansion of light rail to Everett is one of Sound Transit’s most ambitious projects. We’re watching how stations are planned in relation to schools, walkability, and housing — especially for students and families in Lynnwood, South Everett, and surrounding communities.
As East Link service opens, Mercer Island has a chance to become a key Eastside hub. We’re focused on how bus transfers, biking, and walking access are integrated — and how youth riders from the Island and beyond can make seamless trips to school, work, and home.
Planning is still underway for the future Ballard–Interbay–Downtown–CID corridor. We’re tracking how station placements and alignments will impact access, equity, and crowding — especially for students and low-income riders traveling to jobs and schools downtown.
Areas like Monroe, Sultan, and Gold Bar often feel left out of regional transit planning. We believe youth in these communities deserve options beyond long car commutes or infrequent buses — and we’re watching for how future expansions might address that gap.
Pierce Transit is developing a new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system called STREAM. We’re following how these routes can serve young people in places like Puyallup, Parkland, and Spanaway — and how well they connect to schools, jobs, and the Tacoma Dome Station.
Getting to SeaTac Airport from the Eastside, South Sound, or Snohomish can still be complicated. Whether it’s for school trips, travel, or family, we’re interested in how new transit connections, including Link and ST Express, can serve the next generation of flyers.
