The Central Puget Sound Youth Transit Alliance (CSYTA) is a student-led organization advocating for accessible, sustainable, and equitable public transit across the region.
Our mission is to represent youth (ages 12-19) in the movement for accessible, sustainable, and equitable public transportation throughout the Puget Sound region.
We work to elevate youth perspectives and create meaningful change through six key strategies:
We produce articles and videos that explore how public transit works today — and the challenges we must confront to make it better. Our content shines a light on what’s working, what’s not, and what needs to change across the Puget Sound region.
We show up at parades, farmers markets, and community events to meet people where they are — starting conversations, sharing ideas, and building support for better transit through face-to-face engagement.
Our presence at board meetings across the region allows us to speak directly to transit agency leadership — voicing the concerns of youth riders and communities often left out of these decisions.
We make sure youth voices are in the room — and on the record — when decisions are being made. Whether it’s a council meeting or a public hearing, we advocate with confidence and clarity for a better system.
We gather input from riders, students, and residents through surveys, social media, and conversations. Your experiences and ideas help shape our recommendations and strengthen our message.
We research, write, and publish proposals for how to improve local transit service, infrastructure, and access — with a focus on what youth and underserved riders need most.
